George William Bell’s work seamlessly blends fine art and design with material investigation at the forefront of the artist’s practice. Based in Monterey, California where he is currently working as the artist-in-residence at Monterey Glassworks, Bell’s work draws from his vast experience learning and working with glass throughout Europe and the United States. Holding American and British citizenship, Bell has lived much of his life in Europe, most recently residing in Denmark. The artist has been exhibited widely, including in the landmark exhibition New Glass Now at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York and Glass is Tomorrow touring exhibition in London, Stockholm, and Milan. Bell holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Stanislav Libenský Award, named for one of the most important artists to ever work in glass. Fluid Landscapes is an exploration of molten glass, highlighting the nuances within the material utilizing free form blown glass and specially made tools designed by the artist. This exhibition will be the debut of Bell’s two newest bodies of work in the United States, Abstract Form Studies and Self-Generating Forms.
